Tattoos on the fingers/hands/feet/ankles tend to fade much quicker than tattoos done on other areas. The skin is much thinner, full of nerve endings, more exposed to water and sun, thus the healing process is much more unpredictable.
You will need a touch up once the area is fully healed around 6-8 weeks after your initial appointment.
The way tattoos heal varies from person to person, it is hard to compare how well our torso tattoo healed in comparison to how our foot tattoo will heal. For example, the torso along with other areas of the body tends to have better circulation whereas the foot tends to have poorer circulation in general.
If you want to keep your tattoos in these areas looking sharp and well defined you will need to be prepared to invest in regular touch ups around every 6-8 months or so.
Finger/hand tattoos are extremely popular and it is worth bearing in mind the images for finger tattoos you see online are usually when they are freshly done not 6 months after.
Be prepared for your tattoo to FADE the skin on the hands/feet regenerates much faster than skin on other body parts, due to constant excessive use.
Any area which is being tattooed needs to be stretched. When stretching a thin skin area like the hands/feet further thinning can occur and this area can be in danger of an ink blowout. Blowout is where the ink blurs. It is important to know that if this happens the Artist is not blame. The skin is simply too thin. Our Artists will advise on what will work best for the area and if you have your heart set on a finger/hand/foot tattoo it is always best to keep the design simple.
You need to be extra careful to aid the healing process and avoid exposing them to any contaminants to avoid any infection.
Doing everyday chores like picking up a dirty dish to put in the dishwasher, handing laundry, taking your dog for a walk, using your phone, exposure to detergents and cleaning products can potentially introduce bacteria into the area which can cause irritation and or an infection.
